Saddle up for the Utah County Fair
Events for all ages run August 16-19 at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds
SPANISH FORK – Everyone probably has their own idea about what makes the Utah County Fair so exciting.
Rodeo action seems to be a big draw, but what about those monster trucks? Little kids – and folks not so little – enjoy seeing the animals. The City of Fun Carnival -- of course! -- with its lights and sounds and games and fun stuff to eat, the carnival is not to be missed.
“Just seeing everyone out, enjoying themselves, that’s what I like,” Orem resident Ed Coolidge told Serve Daily. “I like looking at the canning that’s been done each year,” his wife Edie added. “That’s what I like to do.”
The Utah County Fair starts at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, through 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the fairgrounds, 475 S. Main in Spanish Fork. All activities close at 10 p.m. each night.
Gary Allen, Lauren Alaina and Raelynn are to perform in concert at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, on the main stage, with fireworks to follow, kicking off the annual County Fair. Several other performers will follow on subsequent days and in various venues.
Exhibits this year are to include creative arts, food and canning, quilts, clothing and handwork, fine arts, floriculture, horticulture, photography, special needs, and small animals.
Animal exhibits and shows are to include 4-H, horse show, junior livestock and small animals.
Among the events at the fair: Antique tractor and power pull, demolition derby, monster trucks, animal shows, talent show, LEGO exhibit, kid’s corner, Miss Utah County Pageant, Oak Hills Vaulters, taxidermy competition, mounted shooting and a variety of demonstraon tions and related educational activities.
