Seventh-graders blank Springdale Tyson

- From Staff Reports

The Siloam Springs seventh-grade football ‘A’ team defeated Springdale Tyson 16-0 on Monday at Panther Stadium.

Head coach Chuck Jones said the Panthers’ front four defensive linemen — Jace Sutulovich, Wesley Farni, Jonathan Garcia and J.P. Wills dominated the line of scrimmage.

The Panthers’ defense forced four fumbles and three interceptions, one each from Neo Harrower, Malachi Taylor and Josh Stewart.

Offenisvely, Ty Lewis led the Panthers’ rushing attack behind the blocking of Wills, Aiden Blevins, Zach Jones, Farni and Sutulovich. Lewis’ runs set up a five-yard touchdown run by Stewart, who also ran in the two-point conversion. Stewart threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jake McDaniel for the Panthers’ second touchdown, and Stewart and McDaniel hooked up again for the two-point conversion to set the final score.

The ‘A’ team snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 5-2 overall.

The ‘B’ game was a defensive battle, according to Jones. Siloam Springs’ defense forced a turnover inside its own 15-yard line. The offense then marched the ball down the field with several nice runs by Harrower. As time expired, the Panthers scored on a short pass from Tyler Johnson to Ezera Zaidner, which he then ran 25 yards for a touchdown and the only score of the game.

The seventh-graders play next at Harrison on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
