Preschool students Carlos Monterrosa-Lopez, Ederic Dadula and Carlos Gutierrez played with blocks on Tuesday morning inside a new prekindergarten classroom at Northside Elementary School. Prekindergarten students had new classrooms and a new playground when they went back to school on Aug. 21. The district built a 5,500-square-foot addition to Northside Elementary School over the summer that added four prekindergarten classrooms. The playground was also moved to make room for the addition and expanded. The school now has the capacity to serve 140 students, which allows them to serve all 4-year-old students although there is currently a waiting list for 3-year-old students, according to Brandy Fox, assistant principal.
