Hornets fall on road, Comets lose at home
ADAIR, Okla. — Colcord took a 7-0 lead on Friday when Spencer Earp recovered a fumble and ran 46 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.
But the Hornets were unable to sustain that early momentum as Adair scored 22 unanswered points and the Warriors defeated Colcord 36-20 in a non-district game at Adair.
Gunner Raider, Austin Hines and Holden Yoder all scored touchdowns for Adair in the first quarter.
Colcord pulled within 22-14 in the second quarter when Ryan Castleman scored on a five-yard run.
But Hines rushed for his second touchdown of the nightand Jacob Lappe hauled in a seven-yard pass from Hines for the twopoint conversion to put Adair back up 30-14.
Colcord scored its final touchdown on a 50-yard run by Earp to make the score 30-20. Adair added its final touchdown to set the final score.
Colcord (2-2) has a bye week this week.
The Hornets return to action Sept. 29 at Chouteau, Okla.
Westville 41, Kansas 34
KANSAS, Okla. — The Comets dropped to 1-2 on the season after a 41-34 loss to the Yellowjackets at Dee Neel Stadium.
The Comets led 14-7 after the first quarter and 21-14 at halftime, but Westville rallied to tie the game 28-28 going into the third quarter.
Westville outscored the Comets 13-6 in the fourth.
Keelan Davis completed 10 of 17 passes for Kansas for 182 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed 24 times for 162 yards and a score. Daris Glass added 66 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Jerry Cochran scored a touchdown and had 47 rushing yards.
Aaron Reeder caught four passes for 93 yards and a score.
The Comets (1-2) return to action on Friday at Victory Christian.
