Hor­nets fall on road, Comets lose at home

ADAIR, Okla. — Col­cord took a 7-0 lead on Fri­day when Spencer Earp re­cov­ered a fum­ble and ran 46 yards for a touch­down in the first quar­ter.

But the Hor­nets were un­able to sus­tain that early mo­men­tum as Adair scored 22 unan­swered points and the War­riors de­feated Col­cord 36-20 in a non-district game at Adair.

Gun­ner Raider, Austin Hines and Holden Yoder all scored touch­downs for Adair in the first quar­ter.

Col­cord pulled within 22-14 in the se­cond quar­ter when Ryan Castle­man scored on a five-yard run.

But Hines rushed for his se­cond touch­down of the nigh­tand Jacob Lappe hauled in a seven-yard pass from Hines for the two­point con­ver­sion to put Adair back up 30-14.

Col­cord scored its fi­nal touch­down on a 50-yard run by Earp to make the score 30-20. Adair added its fi­nal touch­down to set the fi­nal score.

Col­cord (2-2) has a bye week this week.

The Hor­nets re­turn to ac­tion Sept. 29 at Chouteau, Okla.

Westville 41, Kansas 34

KANSAS, Okla. — The Comets dropped to 1-2 on the sea­son af­ter a 41-34 loss to the Yel­low­jack­ets at Dee Neel Sta­dium.

The Comets led 14-7 af­ter the first quar­ter and 21-14 at half­time, but Westville ral­lied to tie the game 28-28 go­ing into the third quar­ter.

Westville outscored the Comets 13-6 in the fourth.

Kee­lan Davis com­pleted 10 of 17 passes for Kansas for 182 yards and one touch­down. He also rushed 24 times for 162 yards and a score. Daris Glass added 66 rush­ing yards and two touch­downs, while Jerry Cochran scored a touch­down and had 47 rush­ing yards.

Aaron Reeder caught four passes for 93 yards and a score.

The Comets (1-2) re­turn to ac­tion on Fri­day at Vic­tory Chris­tian.
