“Hosanna” Palm Puppets
ACTIVE TIME: 20 min.
Trace the child’s hands with pencil onto green paper. Use scissors to cut out the hand outlines. Erase any leftover pencil marks.
Lay 5 to 6 handprints (consisting of both shades of green) on a table to form a palm frond. To secure, apply dots of white glue where handprints overlap; let dry.
Flip over the handprint palm frond and use a small drop of white glue to attach the top third of a wooden craft stick to the base of the leaves. This creates a handle for little ones to grasp the frond. Let dry.

On the Sunday before His Resurrection, Jesus rode into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy in the Old Testament. As He entered, crowds of people welcomed Him by joyfully waving palms and shouting, “Hosanna!” The onlookers then placed palm branches along His path to keep the dusty roads from dirtying Him, which was a gesture recognizing His royalty.
