“Dear Lord, yes­ter­day I lost a big client at work, so I pol­ished off a full bag of chips at my desk. And last week I was de­clared ‘obese’ at my an­nual phys­i­cal, and sucked down a milk­shake on the way home. Food soothes me when I’m stressed or down, but I’m al­ways ashamed af­ter I overeat— which means I numb my aw­ful feel­ings by eat­ing again. Please help me break this de­struc­tive cy­cle!”

We un­der­stand and yet…

We of­ten rely on food, al­co­hol and other dam­ag­ing “fixes” to ease our emo­tional pain. We know our reliance on them leads to ill­ness but we can’t stop. Please help!
