SAFER QUIVER

Skiing - - Front Page - THE FIRST SWAPPABLE AIRBAG MODULE.

With the new Modular ABS pod, The North Face becomes the first company to develop an avalanche airbag system that can be attached to any pack, regardless of size. A harness attaches two airbags and a nitrogen canister to your existing day- or multi-day pack, and the trigger can go on either shoulder strap (good for sled skiers who use their right hands for the throttle). The nitrogen canister can be difficult to travel with and fill, and the bag design doesn’t offer special head protection. However, the dual system is redundant in case one bag fails, makes for better body positioning in a slide, and allows skiers the peripheral vision after deployment to possibly aid in skiing out of the slide.
