The Sno-Dak News took the op­por­tu­nity to chat one on one with Steve Cen­ter, the owner of Blue­Wa­ter Lodge in Walker, MN.

Sno-Dak News (SDN): Where is the Blue­Wa­ter Lodge lo­cated? Steve Cen­ter (SC): Blue­Wa­ter Lodge is lo­cated three miles south of Walker, Min­nesota. The re­sort is di­rectly across the road from the Paul Bun­yan Trail and con­nects to the Heart­land Trail, three miles from our doorstep. We are on Leech Lake and of­fer hun­dreds of miles of groomed and un­groomed rid­ing.

SDN: What are the fea­tures of Blue­Wa­ter Lodge? SC: Each of our cab­ins in­clude a master bed­room with a queen sized bed and a loft with two queen sized beds. Each level has its own bath and shower. The main level has a fire­place, liv­ing room, din­ing area and kitchen stocked with cook­ing uten­sils, din­ner­ware and glass­ware. The cab­ins have a washer and dryer, as well as a deck over­look­ing Leech Lake. The twin unit home has lower units with a master bed­room, large liv­ing room, kitchen and fire­place, as well as a steam shower. The up­per units have two bed­rooms/baths, kitch­enette, fire­place and Jacuzzi tub. There is plenty of snow­mo­bile park­ing as well as se­cure park­ing in the event cen­ter lot for trail­ers.

SDN: What makes Blue­Wa­ter Lodge stand out from the rest, a unique qual­ity? SC: The friendly staff is here to help with your ev­ery need and the cab­ins as well as the twin home are newly built and fur­nished with won­der­ful north woods ap­peal. The rates here are very rea­son­able as we try to es­tab­lish our­selves as the pre­mier win­ter des­ti­na­tion in north­ern Min­nesota. Our event cen­ter is avail­able for your group to host club meet­ings, dances, awards din­ners etc.

SDN: What type of snow­mo­bil­ing is of­fered in the Walker, MN area (miles of trail, which trail sys­tem, unique sites, etc)? SC: The lo­ca­tion of Blue­Wa­ter Lodge is per­fect for snow­mo­bil­ing. There are many res­tau­rants and es­tab­lish­ments a short ride from here as well as con­nect­ing trails to the Brain­erd lakes area, Itasca State Park (Head­wa­ters of the Mis­sis­sippi River), Chippewa Na­tional For­rest, Paul Bun­yan For­rest as well as Bemidji and Lake Bemidji State Park. The Paul Bun­yan trail is steps from our front door and con­nects with the Heart­land trail in the town of Walker, just three miles away. Th­ese trails are part of the rail-to-trail sys­tem of trails for­merly used by the Burling­ton North­ern Rail­road. North­ern Lights Casino is one mile from Blue­Wa­ter Lodge and of­fers com­pli­men­tary shut­tle ser­vice.

SDN: What kinds of ser­vices and con­ve­niences does the Blue Wa­ter Lodge of­fer? SC: Blue­Wa­ter Lodge can ar­range any­thing from catered meals in the event cen­ter, to mas­sages in the cab­ins. There is a full ser­vice spa mo­ments away and ar­range­ments can be made thru our of­fice for ser­vices. We can help to pro­vide day­care, shop­ping to stock your cabin, and ice fish­ing guides and ice house rentals. Ask our pro­fes­sional staff for as­sis­tance in any man­ner and we will be happy to help.
