Sound & Vision - - WIDEANGLE -

The new Edge series of electronics from Cambridge Audio represents a bold new design step for the company. Performance, too, hasn’t been overlooked: The Cambridge Edge A integrated amplifier ($5,000), for example, features innovations like “opposing symmetry” twin toroidal power transformers to cancel out electromagnetic interference. The Edge A’s class-ab amplifier delivers 100 watts into 8 ohms, and 200 watts into 4 ohms. A USB DAC input supports files with resolutions up to 32-bit/384khz PCM and DSD256, and there are balanced and single-ended preamp outputs, a headphone output, and Bluetooth aptx HD for streaming from a tablet or phone. cambridgeaudio.com
