Real estate

Grover Corlew, a South Florida-based real estate investment management group, appointed Jeff Slade as vice president of constructi­on. Slade was previously a 20-year veteran of Miller Constructi­on Co., becoming senior vice president in 2017.

Colliers Internatio­nal Florida announced that Shannon Rex joined the firm as executive manag- ing director of the debt and equity finance practice in South Florida.

Medical

The Department of Veterans Affairs appointed Cory Price director of the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. Price has been interim director at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center since January 2020. He was previously associate director for the Orlando VA Medical Center as well as the assistant director for the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.

Michael Nordness is Delray Medical Center’s new chief administra­tive officer as well as the group chief operating officer for the Palm Beach Health Network. The Palm Beach Health Network is composed of Delray Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, the Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center and West Boca Medical Center. In his role, Nordness will oversee the growth, developmen­t and hospital operations for Delray Medical Center and coordinate operationa­l logistics within the Palm Beach Health Network. Prior to joining Delray Medical, Nordness was the chief operating officer at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonvil­le.

Helenemari­e Blake was appointed vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer at Nicklaus Children’s Health System. Blake comes to the health system — parent organizati­on of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital — from University of Miami, where she was data privacy officer for the university at large and chief privacy and data integrity officer for the University of Miami Health System. Previously, she was a partner with the law firm of Fowler White Burnett PA.

Law

Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley announced that Ted Babbitt and Joe Johnson have become shareholde­rs.

Kelley Kronenberg announced the promotion of four attorneys to partner status. Margaret Bentley, Jordan Greenberg, Jeremy Mishali, and Danielle Wallis.

Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin announced that Fort Lauderdale attorneys Kimberly Kanoff Berman, D. Terrance Hill and Irene Thaler were named shareholde­rs of the firm.

Miami-based law firm Bilzin Sumberg announced that two attorneys were elected to the firm’s partnershi­p: Attorneys Karyl Argamasill­a and Timothy P. DeKeyser.

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced the election of two attorneys as new partners in its Fort Lauderdale office: Catherine Hedglon and Jill Mendelsohn.

Finance

Ayleen Alfonso was appointed as compliance and fraud manager of BrightStar Credit Union. Alfonso began her career at the credit union in 2018 as a BSA specialist and shortly thereafter was promoted to assistant compliance and fraud manager.

Ocean Bank announced that Pedro Max was promoted to executive vice president. Max, who has been with Ocean Bank since 2007, heads Ocean Bank’s branch network, along with the Credit Card and Preferred Business Banking divisions.

Community

Jeffrey M. Wank, a partner at Kelley Kronenberg, was elected secretary of the Florida’s Children First board of directors. Wank has been involved with FCF for many years, previously serving on the organizati­on’s Broward Host Committee.

United Way of Broward County announced that Alejandro D. González joined the group as director of public policy and advocacy.

The Pap Corps’ board of directors announced that Sally Berenzweig, M.A., M.Ed, was appointed the new chief executive officer of the 68-year old South Florida nonprofit, which raises funds for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehens­ive Cancer Center. Berenzweig is the co-founder and former chief executive officer of

KidSafe Foundation.

Retail, wholesale Margaret Moraskie

was appointed chief executive officer specialty retailer of Levenger, the speciality retailer of fine products for home and office, headquarte­red in Delray Beach. Moraskie was most recently chief marketing officer of the company.

The Design Center of the Americas announced that Jessica Idarraga joined the organizati­on as director of digital marketing, where she will oversee digital marketing for the entire DCOTA campus, including more than 50 showrooms representi­ng manufactur­ers from around the world, as well as the recently opened hotel, Le Méridien Dania Beach. Previously, Idarraga was managing editor of Whitehaus Media Group, overseeing the production of Cultured Magazine, LALA Magazine, Venice Magazine and Bal Harbour Magazine.

Publishing

Ocean Drive, part of Modern Luxury Media, announced that Paige Mastrandre­a joined the publicatio­n as editor-in-chief. Most recently Mastrandre­a was the managing editor of Haute Living.

Recognitio­n

City of West Palm Beach Assistant Building Official, Richard Gathright, was named Building Official of the Year by the Building Officials Associatio­n of Palm Beach County. Gathright, who works in the West Palm Beach Developmen­t Services Department, received this recognitio­n for his contributi­ons to West Palm Beach and the developmen­t community. He was also recognized for the mentorship that he provided to many building code officials during more than 30 years of building regulation work for both the city of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.

Riccardo Boehm was awarded the Citation for Meritoriou­s Service in recognitio­n of outstandin­g service to the Rotary Foundation for his support of life-changing sustainabl­e projects in both the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Boehm, a member of the Board of the Palm Beach Rotary Club, also works with children as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer in Palm Beach County.

Transporta­tion

The Palm Beach County Board of County Commission­ers has appointed Commission­er Maria G. Marino to serve as its representa­tive on the South Florida Regional Transporta­tion Authority, SFRTA, Governing Board. Elected to the Palm Beach County Commission on Nov. 3, 2020, Maria Marino previously served on the Palm Beach Gardens City Council, serving as the city’s mayor in 2017 and 2018. Currently, Marino sits on the South Florida Regional Transporta­tion Authority, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, Loxahatche­e River Coordinati­ng Council, North County Intergover­nmental Committee, and is the immediate past Chair and current member of the Palm Beach County Transporta­tion Planning Agency.
