HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hundreds attended Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) sixth annual Ed Talk held Saturday, November 4, at Hollywood Hills High School.

Students, parents, teachers, staff, business leaders, elected officials and community members joined School Board members and BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie to engage in dialogue around educational strategies and advancing the District’s Strategic Plan – and its goals of high-quality instruction, continuous improvement and effective communication.

This year, more than 400 participated in panel and group discussions centered around personalized learning, social and emotional life readiness, literacy and early learning and reimagining middle years learning. The overarching focus is on helping all students reach their full potential.

In years past, Ed Talk community forums provided input and feedback to shape, update and recalibrate the District’s Strategic Plan.

The community forum focused on giving students ever y opportunity to broaden their hor izons and their understanding of the world in which we live.

Student participation during Ed Talk is a vital component to the robust discussions.

“Ed Talk affords us the opportunity to engage our diverse community in rich and meaningful dialogue f ocused on helping our students succeed, both in school and throughout their lives,” said Superintendent Runcie. “I’m always inspired by the dedication of our hardworking teachers, staff and school leaders – and the excitement for lear ning by our students. Hear ing directly from our students today about their educational exper iences, and receiving the incredible f eedback and support from the community, helps us ensure we are on the right track for preparing our students f or their futures.”
