Nom­i­na­tions open for JM's 2018 African Amer­i­can Achiev­ers Awards

For a quar­ter of a cen­tury JM Fam­ily En­ter­prises, South­east Toy­ota Dis­trib­u­tors and JM Lexus have rec­og­nized in­spi­ra­tional black lead­ers from the South Florida com­mu­nity.

Now the tra­di­tion con­tin­ues with a call for nom­i­na­tions for the 26th An­nual AfricanAmer­i­can Achiev­ers Awards Cer­e­mony, which was started by Jim Mo­ran in 1992 to rec­og­nize lead­ers for their ex­cep­tional con­tri­bu­tions to­ward build­ing stronger com­mu­ni­ties in South Florida.

Awards are given to out­stand­ing black lead­ers who set an in­spi­ra­tional ex­am­ple through com­mu­nity in­volve­ment and lead­er­ship in four cat­e­gories: Arts & Cul­ture; Busi­ness & En­trepreneurism; Com­mu­nity Ser­vice; and Ed­u­ca­tion.

In honor of the achiev­ers, JM Fam­ily, South­east Toy­ota and JM Lexus will do­nate $10,000 in each achiever’s name to the South Florida char­ity or char­i­ties of his/her choice.

In­di­vid­u­als are in­vited to nom­i­nate peo­ple by com­plet­ing an ap­pli­ca­tion avail­able at www.africanamer­i­canachiev­ers.com/nom­i­nate or by call­ing 1-866-516-2497.

Nom­i­na­tions are due by Fri­day, De­cem­ber 1. The awards pre­sen­ta­tion and cer­e­mony, which is free and open to the pub­lic, will be held on Wed­nes­day, April 25, 2018 at the Broward County Con­ven­tion Cen­ter.

The com­pa­nies will also do­nate $500 to the char­ity(ies) of choice for those whose nom­i­nee is se­lected as an African Amer­i­can Achiever, for a to­tal cam­paign con­tri­bu­tion of $42,000 to lo­cal non­prof­its. Each per­son whose nom­i­nee is cho­sen will re­ceive an in­vi­ta­tion to at­tend the evening’s pri­vate re­cep­tion.
