Rambo leads Terps to Fi­nal 4

La Salle grad scores eight points in win over Al­bany

Matt Rambo (Glen­side/la Salle) had four goals and four as­sists to fin­ish with a ca­reer-high eight points for the sec­ond straight game as the Mary­land men’s lacrosse team advanced to its fourth con­sec­u­tive Fi­nal Four with an 18-9 vic­tory over Al­bany in the NCAA quar­ter­fi­nals Sun­day.

In the win, Rambo be­came the first Mary­land player to record 40 goals and 40 as­sists — he has 40 goals and 43 as­sists so far this sea­son — and tied for the pro­gram’s all­time goals lead at 153.

The Ter­rap­ins, the top seed in the NCAA Tour­na­ment, face No. 5 Den­ver in the na­tional semi­fi­nal 2:30 p.m. Satur­day at Gil­lette Sta­dium in Foxbor­ough, Mas­sachusetts. Win­ner faces No. 3 Ohio State or Tow­son for the na­tional ti­tle Mon­day, May 29.

• Laura Franken­field (North Wales/wis­sahickon) fin­ished with one as­sist, one ground ball, one caused turnover and one draw con­trol as the Bos­ton Col­lege women’s lacrosse team reached its first-ever Fi­nal Four with a 20-14 vic­tory over South­ern Cal­i­for­nia in the NCAA quar­ter­fi­nals last Satur­day.

Franken­field had a two goals and as­sists in both of the Ea­gles first two win in the NCAA Tour­na­ment — 21-9 over Cani­sius in the first round May 12 and 21-10 over Syra­cuse May 14.

Bos­ton Col­lege takes on Navy in the na­tional semi­fi­nals 7:30 p.m. Fri­day at Gil­lette Sta­dium in Foxbor­ough, Mas­sachusetts with win­ner fac­ing ei­ther Mary­land or Penn State in the na­tional ti­tle game Sun­day.
