Dar­lene Clem­mer King of Thur­mont

Dar­lene Clem­mer King, age 89, of Thur­mont, died Mon­day, May 22, 2017 at her home sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily. Born Jan­uary 11, 1928 in Sellersville, PA, she was the daugh­ter of the late Clay­ton and Ma­bel Har­ing Clem­mer.

Mrs. King was a 1945 grad­u­ate of Sell Perk High School in Penn­syl­va­nia, where she was the sec­re­tary of her se­nior class. She was a for­mer mem­ber of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Sellersville and their Women’s Guild. She was cur­rently a mem­ber of the Grace­ham Mo­ra­vian Church and the Women’s Fel­low­ship. She had been em­ployed with the Union Na­tional Bank in Soud­er­ton, PA, start­ing as a teller and re­tir­ing from the loan de­part­ment. She loved her fam­ily and fam­ily gath­er­ings, cook­ing, sewing, play­ing bingo and cards and was a big fan of the Mi­ami Dol­phins.

Sur­viv­ing are her daugh­ter, Ch­eryl D. Back and hus­band Ti­mothy of Thur­mont; 3 grand­sons, James, Tony and Shawn Back; nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews, great nieces, great neph­ews and close friends. She was pre­de­ceased by her for­mer hus­band, Ge­orge M. King; 3 sis­ters, Grace, He­len and Irene and 2 broth­ers, Arthur and Gar­wood.

A cel­e­bra­tion of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Satur­day, June 3 at the Grace­ham Mo­ra­vian Church, with Pas­tor Sue Koenig, church pas­tor, of­fi­ci­at­ing. A fel­low­ship lun­cheon will fol­low the ser­vice. All who plan to at­tend are en­cour­aged to wear brightly col­ored clothes.

Pri­vate in­ter­ment in the church ceme­tery will be at the con­ve­nience of the fam­ily.

In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial con­tri­bu­tions may be made to the Grace­ham Mo­ra­vian Church, 8231-A Rocky Ridge Rd., Thur­mont, MD 21788.
