Life Time Ath­letic opens in Fort Wash­ing­ton

FORT WASH­ING­TON » More than 2,300 at­tended the May 18 pre­view cel­e­bra­tion for Life Time Ath­letic, a high-end fit­ness cen­ter at Com­merce and Delaware drives in the Fort Wash­ing­ton Of­fice Park.

The new, two-story, 113,000-square-foot fa­cil­ity with both an in­door and out­door pool, a bistro, and 650 park­ing spa­ces on a 14.5-acre par­cel has been in the works since 2015, at which point the Min­nesotabased com­pany es­ti­mated the cost at about $35 mil­lion.

Life Time Fit­ness, which, with the open­ing in Fort Wash­ing­ton has 124 lo­ca­tions in the United States and Canada, will soon open a new fa­cil­ity in King of Prus­sia, fol­lowed in 2018 by one in Ard­more. The first in the re­gion opened in 2015 in Mount Lau­rel, N.J.

The Fort Wash­ing­ton fit­ness cen­ter had more than 2,000 mem­bers sign on prior to the grand open­ing, Life Time rep­re­sen­ta­tive Natalie Bushaw said dur­ing a tour May 19. The fa­cil­ity is open 4 a.m. to mid­night daily and has “just shy of 300 em­ploy­ees,” she said.

Lifespa, of­fer­ing full-ser­vice hair, nail and skin care ser­vices and mas­sage, and a Life­café serv­ing or­ganic, healthy foods, are open to non­mem­bers, Bushaw said. A non­mem­ber uti­liz­ing the spa would be per­mit­ted to ac­cess the club the same day, in­clud­ing two hours in the Kids Academy, she said.

The Kids Academy, for ages 3 months to 11 years, in­cludes an in­fant room, and of­fers a tum­bling stu­dio, home­work help, Span­ish lessons, swim lessons and other ac­tiv­i­ties, she said.

There are 400 car­dio and strength-based pieces of equip­ment for in­di­vid­ual and group train­ing and more than 95 classes in­clud­ing The en­trance to Life Time Ath­letic in Fort Wash­ing­ton. spin­ning, yoga and aquat­ics cen­ter has ze­rodepth barre.
