Pascal Joseph La Ruffa, formerly of Yardley
Pascal Joseph La Ruffa, M.D., 79, of Naples, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Formerly of Yardley, PA, he had been a Naples resident since 2000. He was born June 15, 1937 in Ambler, PA, the son of Joseph and Phyllis (née Melograna) La Ruffa.
Dr. La Ruffa graduated summa cum laude from Lasalle College (B.A.) and Jefferson Medical College (M.D.) in Philadelphia, PA and received a Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine from the Harvard Graduate School of Medicine in Boston, MA.. He was a charter member and Fellow of the Society for Adolescent Medicine, Philadelphia College of Physicians, and Royal Society of Health, London. Dr. La Ruffa served as Medical Director at Penn State University, Abington, PA Campus, George School in Newtown, PA, The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ, and held Private Practice in Yardley, PA as a specialist in Adolescent Medicine and Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. Dr. La Ruffa served eight years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Dr. La Ruffa is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joan (née Maddock) La Ruffa; his beloved daughter, Tara La Ruffa (Julian II) Stokes of Naples, FL; his sisters and brother, Rosemarie (Lee) Melair of Chalfont, PA, Vincent (Albina) La Ruffa of Newnan, GA, Nora La Ruffa of Quakertown, PA and Phyllis (Craig) Smith of Horsham, PA; and one cherished grandchild, Julian Stokes III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 12, 2017 at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden.
