Pas­cal Joseph La Ruffa, M.D., 79, of Naples, FL, passed away on Thurs­day, May 25, 2017. For­merly of Yard­ley, PA, he had been a Naples res­i­dent since 2000. He was born June 15, 1937 in Am­bler, PA, the son of Joseph and Phyl­lis (née Mel­o­grana) La Ruffa.

Dr. La Ruffa grad­u­ated summa cum laude from Lasalle Col­lege (B.A.) and Jef­fer­son Medical Col­lege (M.D.) in Philadel­phia, PA and re­ceived a Fel­low­ship in Ado­les­cent Medicine from the Har­vard Grad­u­ate School of Medicine in Boston, MA.. He was a char­ter mem­ber and Fel­low of the So­ci­ety for Ado­les­cent Medicine, Philadel­phia Col­lege of Physi­cians, and Royal So­ci­ety of Health, Lon­don. Dr. La Ruffa served as Medical Di­rec­tor at Penn State Univer­sity, Abing­ton, PA Cam­pus, George School in New­town, PA, The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ, and held Pri­vate Prac­tice in Yard­ley, PA as a spe­cial­ist in Ado­les­cent Medicine and Psy­chi­a­try, In­ter­nal Medicine, and Ad­dic­tion Medicine. Dr. La Ruffa served eight years in the U.S. Army Re­serves.

Dr. La Ruffa is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 41 years, Joan (née Mad­dock) La Ruffa; his beloved daugh­ter, Tara La Ruffa (Julian II) Stokes of Naples, FL; his sis­ters and brother, Rose­marie (Lee) Me­lair of Chal­font, PA, Vincent (Al­bina) La Ruffa of New­nan, GA, Nora La Ruffa of Quak­er­town, PA and Phyl­lis (Craig) Smith of Hor­sham, PA; and one cher­ished grand­child, Julian Stokes III.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated Mon­day, June 12, 2017 at 10:00 at St. John the Evan­ge­list Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples. Burial will fol­low in the church memo­rial gar­den.
