Tree, bench dedicated in memory of Jenna Demar

Family, friends, and the secondgrade class at Maple Glen Elementary School gathered June 9 in the courtyard for the dedication of a tree and bench in memory of the second-grader who died Oct. 18 of last year after being struck by a vehicle the night before.
“Flowers become a garden, which continues to grow and show its beauty — a peaceful place to sit, think and remember,” said school guidance counselor Jennifer Hamilton, who read a memorial poem about “a very special garden.”
“It’s important here today to be with Jenna’s family,” she said. “We want to help her mom and dad and [sister] Reece feel comfortable when they are here at Maple Glen. “Sometimes when we think
