Tree, bench ded­i­cated in mem­ory of Jenna De­mar

Fam­ily, friends, and the sec­ond­grade class at Maple Glen Ele­men­tary School gathered June 9 in the court­yard for the ded­i­ca­tion of a tree and bench in mem­ory of the sec­ond-grader who died Oct. 18 of last year af­ter be­ing struck by a ve­hi­cle the night be­fore.

“Flow­ers be­come a gar­den, which con­tin­ues to grow and show its beauty — a peace­ful place to sit, think and re­mem­ber,” said school guid­ance coun­selor Jen­nifer Hamil­ton, who read a memo­rial poem about “a very spe­cial gar­den.”

“It’s im­por­tant here to­day to be with Jenna’s fam­ily,” she said. “We want to help her mom and dad and [sis­ter] Reece feel com­fort­able when they are here at Maple Glen. “Some­times when we think
