Cops, day camps come to­gether for friendly com­pe­ti­tion

MONTCO » Campers, coun­selors, and cops en­joyed fun in the sun Thurs­day at the an­nual show­down be­tween the Whitemarsh Cop Camp and the Miles Park Day Camp.

For the past 12 years, the cop camp, which is now in its 19th year, has chal­lenged the day camp, run by the Whitemarsh Town­ship De­part­ment of Parks and Recre­ation, to a wa­ter bal­loon fight and in­flat­able ob­sta­cle course races for friendly early sum­mer brag­ging rights. A cook­out and im­promptu dodge ball games fol­lowed the con­tests.

The coun­selors and cops also go head-to-head on the ob­sta­cle course, with the win­ners — this years it was the cops — tak­ing home a tro­phy.

As a side wa­ger, Whitemarsh po­lice Chief Christo­pher Ward scored a roast beef sand­wich from Ye Old Ale House, cour­tesy of Recre­ation Di­rec­tor Thomas Blom­strom.
