Schol­ar­ship re­cip­i­ents en­cour­aged to per­se­vere

The Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion of Univer­sity Women-sub­ur­ban Philadel­phia hosted their an­nual Schol­ar­ship Awards Lun­cheon at Mont­gomery County Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Whitpain on June 10. The or­ga­ni­za­tion, headed by Pres­i­dent Natasha A. Pat­ter­son who is also full time fac­ulty at Mont­gomery County Com­mu­nity Col­lege, awarded three col­lege schol­ar­ships and a book award to­tal­ing $6,000 to high school se­niors in the area. Ev­ery year the or­ga­ni­za­tion hosts fundrais­ing events to pro­vide the schol­ar­ships. The key­note speaker for the lun­cheon was, Ri­cardo Calderón, head of the Philadel­phia Youth Com­mis­sion. Nia Andrews, Miss Philadel­phia, also spoke with stu­dents about mak­ing an im­pact on their own com­mu­ni­ties. — Sub­mit­ted by Natasha Pat­ter­son
