STER­LING FARMS CLUB CHAM­PI­ONSHIPS

CHAM­PI­ONSHIP FLIGHT: 36 hole fi­nal. Bart Weiss­man de­feated Ja­son Denker 3 and 2.

This is back-to-back ti­tles for Weiss­man. Bart was 4 down af­ter six holes. He pulled to just 1 down af­ter 18 holes by mak­ing birdies on both the 15th and 18th holes. But Weiss­man was 2 down af­ter 29 holes. He then won five straight holes to close out Denker. “I’m stub­born, and I never give up,” Weiss­man said. “Ja­son is a re­ally solid player, so I was for­tu­nate to come out on top.” SE­NIOR FLIGHT: 18 Hole fi­nal. Mark Vas­sa­lotti de­feated Jerry Mar­ifke, 1 up. Vas­sa­lotti moved ahead in the early go­ing with steady play through the first nine holes, but his 2 up lead evap­o­rated af­ter los­ing both the 16th and 17th holes. Vas­sa­lotti made par on the 18th hole, and then watched Mar­ifke’s par putt come up short to seal the match. This is Vas­sa­lotti’s sixth con­sec­u­tive Se­nior Club Cham­pi­onship. In a Sept. 21-23 Stroke play week­end event, in A Flight, De­clan McCabe (73) was the low gross score win­ner. Ralph Vitti (76) and Peter Per­i­me­nis (79) were next. Ben Moskowitz (69) edged out Alex Lionetti (69) for low net score ti­tlist. Chris Ve­lander (73), Tom

Aberle (75) and Drew Humphrey (75) fol­lowed.

In B Flight, Jake Ni­nan (77) was low gross score ahead of Jim Spiller (84). John San­fil­ippo (70) was low net score fol­lowed by Kyle Nay­lor (73) and Howard Kraus (74). In C Flight, Howard Dub­man (86) was low gross score. Ralph D’Agostino (93) and Carl Tooker (93) were next. Joe Pal­adino (72) was low net score fol­lowed by Brian Sten­dardi (73) and Brian Bank­son (74).

HUB­BARD HEIGHTS

In a Sept. 21-23 Match Play vs. Par week­end event, in A Flight, Terry Mazza (6 up) was the win­ner. Ken Con­si­dine (4 up), Rick Shock (3 up) and Alex Maz­zola (1 up) fol­lowed. Rob Colucci (75) was low gross. In B Flight, Rick Wolk (4 up) was the vic­tor. Dante Teren­zio (3 up), James Sa­vatsky (2 up) and Eric Sch­neible (1 up) were next. Chuck Salek (88) was low gross.

WOMEN’S GOLF HUB­BARD HEIGHTS

In a Sept. 27 Stroke Play event for the 18 Hol­ers on a wet course, Jeanette Cha­garis

(90) was low gross score. Leena Ait­tola (76) was low net score.

In a Sept. 27 Stroke Play event for the 9 Hol­ers on the wet course, Anne DuFrane (65) was low gross score.

STAM­FORD OLD TIMERS TICK­ETS ON SALE

The Stam­ford Old Timers will hold their 76th an­nual din­ner on Mon­day, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Stam­ford Ital­ian Cen­ter at 1620 Newfield Av­enue in Stam­ford.

Pro­ceeds help fund schol­ar­ships that are given each year to needy and de­serv­ing Lo­cal Scholar Ath­letes and pro­vides spon­sor­ship to area sports teams.

This year’s lo­cal hon­orees in­clude Joe Car­cusa, Rich Conetta, Den­nis Eveleigh,

Ronne Gar­ber, Joe Tas­si­tano and Mike Verses. Cock­tail Hour and hor’s d’oeu­vres at 6 p.m. fol­lowed by Din­ner at 7 p.m.

YOUTH WRESTLING STAM­FORD JR. REG­IS­TRA­TION

The 2018 Stam­ford Ju­nior Wrestling sea­son started on Tues­day, Sept. 25 and runs through Dec. 20.

It is open to boys and girls ages 6-14. Weekly prac­tices are 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mon­days (at Stam­ford Boys & Girls Club), Tues­days (Westhill High School wrestling room) and Thurs­days (Westhill).
