STERLING FARMS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
CHAMPIONSHIP FLIGHT: 36 hole final. Bart Weissman defeated Jason Denker 3 and 2.
This is back-to-back titles for Weissman. Bart was 4 down after six holes. He pulled to just 1 down after 18 holes by making birdies on both the 15th and 18th holes. But Weissman was 2 down after 29 holes. He then won five straight holes to close out Denker. “I’m stubborn, and I never give up,” Weissman said. “Jason is a really solid player, so I was fortunate to come out on top.” SENIOR FLIGHT: 18 Hole final. Mark Vassalotti defeated Jerry Marifke, 1 up. Vassalotti moved ahead in the early going with steady play through the first nine holes, but his 2 up lead evaporated after losing both the 16th and 17th holes. Vassalotti made par on the 18th hole, and then watched Marifke’s par putt come up short to seal the match. This is Vassalotti’s sixth consecutive Senior Club Championship. OTHER DIVISIONS:
A Flight: Paul Molina defeated Chris Velander, 1 up. B Flight: Martin King defeated
Joji Parappallil, 4 and 3. C Flight: Kerrin Behrend defeated Ian Duggan, 2 and 1. D Flight: David Moskowitz defeated Howard Meditz, 2 and 1.
In a Sept. 21-23 Stroke play weekend event, in A Flight, Declan McCabe (73) was the low gross score winner. Ralph Vitti (76) and Peter Perimenis (79) were next. Ben Moskowitz (69) edged out Alex Lionetti (69) for low net score titlist. Chris Velander (73), Tom
Aberle (75) and Drew Humphrey (75) followed.
In B Flight, Jake Ninan (77) was low gross score ahead of Jim Spiller (84). John Sanfilippo (70) was low net score followed by Kyle Naylor (73) and Howard Kraus (74). In C Flight, Howard Dubman (86) was low gross score. Ralph D’Agostino (93) and Carl Tooker (93) were next. Joe Paladino (72) was low net score followed by Brian Stendardi (73) and Brian Bankson (74).
In a Sept. 21-23 Match Play vs. Par weekend event, in A Flight, Terry Mazza (6 up) was the winner. Ken Considine (4 up), Rick Shock (3 up) and Alex Mazzola (1 up) followed. Rob Colucci (75) was low gross. In B Flight, Rick Wolk (4 up) was the victor. Dante Terenzio (3 up), James Savatsky (2 up) and Eric Schneible (1 up) were next. Chuck Salek (88) was low gross.
WOMEN’S GOLF HUBBARD HEIGHTS
In a Sept. 27 Stroke Play event for the 18 Holers on a wet course, Jeanette Chagaris
(90) was low gross score. Leena Aittola (76) was low net score.
In a Sept. 27 Stroke Play event for the 9 Holers on the wet course, Anne DuFrane (65) was low gross score.
STAMFORD OLD TIMERS TICKETS ON SALE
The Stamford Old Timers will hold their 76th annual dinner on Monday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Stamford Italian Center at 1620 Newfield Avenue in Stamford.
Proceeds help fund scholarships that are given each year to needy and deserving Local Scholar Athletes and provides sponsorship to area sports teams.
This year’s local honorees include Joe Carcusa, Rich Conetta, Dennis Eveleigh,
Ronne Garber, Joe Tassitano and Mike Verses. Cocktail Hour and hor’s d’oeuvres at 6 p.m. followed by Dinner at 7 p.m.

YOUTH WRESTLING STAMFORD JR. REGISTRATION
The 2018 Stamford Junior Wrestling season started on Tuesday, Sept. 25 and runs through Dec. 20.
It is open to boys and girls ages 6-14. Weekly practices are 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays (at Stamford Boys & Girls Club), Tuesdays (Westhill High School wrestling room) and Thursdays (Westhill).
