Cather­ine Veron­ica Franco Cin­gari passed away on Oc­to­ber 6, 2018 at Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal. She was born on June 1, 1932 in New­port, RI to Cather­ine Power Franco and Fred Franco. Born and raised in New­port, RI. She was the Vale­dic­to­rian from St Cather­ine’s Academy in New­port and grad­u­ated Magna Cum Laude from Bryant Col­lege which is where she met her fu­ture hus­band and love of her life, Sam Cin­gari. Sam and Cathy were mar­ried on Sept. 1, 1952 in New­port, RI.

Cathy is pre­de­ceased by her Fa­ther Fred Franco Sr., her mother Cather­ine Power Franco and her brother Fred­er­ick Joseph Franco Jr. of Til­gh­man Is­land, Mary­land and Fair­fax, Vir­ginia.

Cathy is sur­vived by her hus­band of 66 years Sam Cin­gari and their 6 chil­dren, Rose­mary Cin­gari, John and Tri­cia (Lynn) Cin­gari, Michael Cin­gari, Tom and Sue (Ci­uffo) Cin­gari, David Cin­gari and Janine McCormick, Mary (Cin­gari) Dono­van and Brian Dono­van.

The great­est joy of Cathy’s life was cre­at­ing mag­i­cal Christ­mases for her grand­chil­dren Katie Cin­gari and Becky Lot­stein, Christo­pher Cin­gari, Melissa {Cin­gari) Rigby and Brett Rigby, Saman­tha Cin­gari, Michael Cin­gari, Jr., Chris­tine Cin­gari and Kelly Fitz­patrick, Tom Cin­gari Jr and Jenna (Macari) Cin­gari, Daniel Cin­gari, Matt Cin­gari, John Cin­gari, David James (DJ) Cin­gari, Car­o­line Cin­gari, El­iz­a­beth Cin­gari, Brian Dono­van Jr and Jack Dono­van.

Life be­came even more ex­cit­ing when her great grand­chil­dren ar­rived, Wyatt Rigby, Lainey Rigby, Harper Cin­gari and James Cin­gari. Cathy found out that her 5th great grand­child will be a girl who will be ar­riv­ing in Oc­to­ber.

Cathy will be missed by her brother John and wife Jackie Franco of Ch­ester, PA , and sis­ter-in-law Marge Franco, widow of Cathy’s older brother Fred Franco, Jr. of VA.

Cathy Cin­gari was a quiet per­son with a thought­ful heart and spirit. Cathy shopped, cooked, and drove to doc­tor ap­point­ments for sev­eral woman who did not have fam­ily close by. She helped care for and com­fort fam­ily mem­bers and friends in times of sad­ness and cel­e­brated in times of joy. When some­thing needed to be done, Cathy Cin­gari was the per­son many turned to for quiet, re­spon­si­ble as­sis­tance. For 30 years she was a vol­un­teer ev­ery Tues at the Stam­ford Easter Seals Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Hos­pi­tal. She and Sam hosted and or­ga­nized many fundrais­ers for The YMCA, Stam­ford Opera, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, The Stam­ford Hos­pi­tal and The Food Bank of Lower Fair­field County and the Ship­pan Gar­den Club.

There will be a Mass of Chris­tian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 566 Elm St., Stam­ford, CT on Tues­day, Oct 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will fol­low at St. John’s Ceme­tery in Darien im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing Mass. No call­ing hours will be held.
