◆ Alcoholics Anonymous — Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet every Saturday at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church
◆ Casserole Kitchen — The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection hosts a casserole kitchen every Saturday at Parish hall at 11:30 a.m.
◆ On the Grill at Parker-McGill — Parker-McGill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will host a weekly “On the Grill” every Saturday. Free food will be provided and visitors can meet the ParkerMcGill staff
◆ Moving Forward — Youth Ages 8 to 18. Activities to promote a healthy lifestyle: complete 2 sessions there will be a celebration. Meetings will be Sept. 9 and 6 at the J L King Center. Kayla Pratt will be the Facilitator
◆ Starkville Symphony Performance — The Starkville Symphony’s first concert of the season is scheduled for Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Lee Hall on the MSU campus. The program will include pieces by Handel, Neruda, Walters, and Dvorak. The Symphony’s concerts are free and open to the public
◆ Neighborhood Yard Sale — Plantation Homes will host a neighborhood wide yard sale on Sept. 16 from 9 am- 2 pm. All houses in Plantation Homes are invited to participate by selling their items in their own yard
◆ Canoe Day — Canoeing on Noxubee Refuge’s Bluff Lake will be held on Sept. 16 from 9 am until 3 pm. Canoes, kayaks, life jackets, and paddles will be available free of charge. Call 3235548 for more information
◆ Run United 5K — Run United 5K Kickoff Rae will begin 8 a.m. on Sept. 23. at the Starkville Sportsplex. Registration is $25 for early registration, $30 for late registration, and $35 the day of the race. The United Way is looking for volunteers to help. ◆ Annual Punt, Pass, & Kick Contest — The contest is is the morning of Sept. 23 at East Webster High School football field. Girls and boys aged 6 through 15 (before 12/31/17) are eligible. Parent signatures & child’s birth certificate must accompany registration. Tennis shoes; no cleats. No entry fee for participants or spectators.
