ICC's Foster wraps up golf
FOLEY, Ala. – Sophomore golfer Cameron Foster wrapped up the 2017-18 athletic season at Itawamba Community College in the third round of the National Junior College Athletic Association DII Men's Golf Championship at Glen Lake Golf Club in Foley, Alabama.
Tournament officials were forced to cut the field to ensure the 72-hole tournament would be completed in accordance with the guidelines in the NJCAA Handbook and Casebook after back-to-back days with hour-plus weather delays.
Foster carded an 80 (+8) on Wednesday for a total of 237 over 54 holes. His three-day, 21-over total was outside of the cutline and brought the sophomore's season to an end.
The Southaven native finished the opening day of the tournament tied for 54th after turning in a 77 (+5) on Monday. Scores skyrocketed with the first day of inclement weather and Foster entered the clubhouse in a four-way tie for 71st with an 80 (+8) on Tuesday.
With the conclusion of the season, coach Cary Simmons officially announced his decision to step down after two years as head coach of the Indians.
