ICC's Fos­ter wraps up golf

FO­LEY, Ala. – Sopho­more golfer Cameron Fos­ter wrapped up the 2017-18 ath­letic sea­son at Itawamba Com­mu­nity Col­lege in the third round of the Na­tional Ju­nior Col­lege Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion DII Men's Golf Cham­pi­onship at Glen Lake Golf Club in Fo­ley, Alabama.

Tour­na­ment of­fi­cials were forced to cut the field to en­sure the 72-hole tour­na­ment would be com­pleted in ac­cor­dance with the guide­lines in the NJCAA Hand­book and Case­book after back-to-back days with hour-plus weather de­lays.

Fos­ter carded an 80 (+8) on Wed­nes­day for a to­tal of 237 over 54 holes. His three-day, 21-over to­tal was out­side of the cut­line and brought the sopho­more's sea­son to an end.

The Southaven na­tive fin­ished the open­ing day of the tour­na­ment tied for 54th after turn­ing in a 77 (+5) on Mon­day. Scores sky­rock­eted with the first day of in­clement weather and Fos­ter en­tered the club­house in a four-way tie for 71st with an 80 (+8) on Tues­day.

With the con­clu­sion of the sea­son, coach Cary Sim­mons of­fi­cially an­nounced his de­ci­sion to step down after two years as head coach of the In­di­ans.
