MSU set for Ex­tra­van­ganza

Fans in the Jack­son area can cel­e­brate a his­toric 2017-18 Mis­sis­sippi State ath­letic year and look for­ward to the up­com­ing 2018-19 cam­paign as the 41st an­nual Cen­tral Mis­sis­sippi Summer Ex­trav­a­ganza takes place Tues­day, July 17.

This year's event, pre­sented by the Cen­tral Mis­sis­sippi Alumni Chap­ter, will be held at the Clyde Muse Cen­ter on the Hinds Com­mu­nity Col­lege-Rankin Cam­pus (515 Coun­try Place Park­way; Pearl, Miss.). Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the pro­gram be­gin­ning at 7 p.m.

Tick­ets cost $10 per adult and can be pur­chased on­line (http://www.msu-alumni.com/prod­uct-page/2018-summer-ex­trav­a­ganza-ticket). Ad­mis­sion is free to all stu­dents and chil­dren, in­clud­ing MSU stu­dents.

The pro­gram fea­tures “Voice of the Bull­dogs” Neil Price host­ing a panel dis­cus­sion with first-year head foot­ball coach Joe Moor­head, new Di­a­mond Dawg base­ball coach Chris Le­mo­nis, men's bas­ket­ball head coach Ben How­land, women's bas­ket­ball as­so­ciate head coach John­nie Har­ris, the 2018 WBCA As­sis­tant Coach of the Year, Di­rec­tor of Ath­let­ics John Co­hen, and MSU Vice Pres­i­dent of Stu­dent Af­fairs Dr. Regina Hy­att.

Tues­day's event gives fans the first op­por­tu­nity to pick up the 2018 foot­ball sched­ule cards and posters, and prior to the pro­gram, the coaches and mem­bers of Moor­head's Bull­dog foot­ball team will meet fans and sign au­to­graphs.

Ex­trav­a­ganza fes­tiv­i­ties also in­clude pho­tos with a num­ber of cham­pi­onship tro­phies and Bully, free face paint­ing and a mini cheer camp with the MSU cheer­lead­ers. Food trucks will be avail­able at the Clyde Muse Cen­ter be­gin­ning at 5 p.m.
