SOCSD releases registration, open house dates
With school starting Aug. 7 for the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District, some crucial information has been released for parents.
The district has announced registration dates and open houses district-wide in the coming weeks.
Students bound for Sudduth Elementary School, Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary School, Overstreet Elementary School and Armstrong Middle School may register at Sudduth from July 25-27. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 25th and 26th and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 27th. Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and booster clubs will have T-shirts for sale at Sudduth during registration hours. Services offered will include registration, residency verification, schedule pickup and teacher assignment.
Parents of West Elementary students may register and pick up teacher assignments at West during normal office hours on the dates listed above.
Starkville High School will handle registration, residency verification, parking passes and schedule pickup on July 30 and July 31. Seniors should report from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the 30th, while juniors should report from noon until 3 p.m. the same day. On the 31st, sophomores should report from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and sophomores from noon until 3 p.m. Freshman orientation is also scheduled on the 31st, from 8 a.m. to noon at SHS.
Online registration for returning students opens Monday at 1 p.m. To complete online registration, log into your child's PowerSchool parent portal account. A link to PowerSchool can be found on the district's website.
The district has also announced back-to-school open house dates across the district.
Sudduth, HWS, and West are scheduled to host open houses on Aug. 6, Sudduth and West from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and HWS from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Armstrong will also host an open house for seventh and eighth grades on Aug. 6 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 30 p.m. The sixth grade open house is scheduled for Aug. 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Armstrong. Overstreet will hold its open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 5.
