let’s go.’”

Suell’s basket was part of a 7-0 run as Starkville stretched the margin to 52-46.

The Lady Eagles were able to cut the gap to one point in the closing seconds on a pair of free throws, but could not regain the lead.

Suell was the only SHS player to score in double digits, but Ford added nine points, while Odneal and Brayland Ferguson chipped in six points each.

Williams was impressed with the job Suell and Ferguson did on the boards, but said all of her players had a role in the outcome.

“Brayland

Ferguson

and

Sukkima Suell are beasts on the boards,” Williams said. “We’ve had that all year long, but to see it in tight games like this and need it in crunch time, they just go get it. I can’t say enough about the Class of 21.

“Hats off to everyone who contributed and even those who don’t get a chance to get in the game all the time. We are pushing each other in practice and

we encourage everyone. We are still a team and still as one. We tell them they are pushing them in practice and that allows us to get these victories.”

The Lady Jackets improved to 11-7 overall with the victory and now have a quick turnaround to face Madison Central on the road Wednesday in the next round. The tip is set for 6 p.m.
