On the Road
Each year in July the New York State Fairgrounds hosts the largest special-interest vehicle event in the Northeast. Organized by the Right Coast Association, the Syracuse Nationals was first held 19 years ago and has been growing every year. Last year the car count totaled more than 8,000 street rods, muscle cars, customs, and all types of pre-'86 special-interest vehicles. More than 400 vendor spaces were filled with goodies and 90,000 spectators passed through the gates to enjoy the amazing show.
The Syracuse Nationals had been a destination of many Road Tours over the past 10 years. Last year we teamed up with the Right Coast Association and created The Syracuse Nationals Week Road Tour. With plenty to see and do within driving distance of Syracuse, we felt that we could spend the entire week leading up to the event doing daytrips to museums, hot rods shops, and tourist attractions in Upstate New York. Our base of operations was the headquarters hotel. Road Tour participants started a fantastic week with a Sunday night kickoff cookout and ended with a hospitality tent and special parking all weekend at the fairgrounds.
Everyone had such a good time last year that we decided to head back to the Syracuse Nationals this July. We will again spend the week enjoying the surrounding area of Central New York, visiting some of the same places we all enjoyed last year and adding some new destinations to the mix. The fun starts on Sunday evening July 15 and continues through the Syracuse Nationals July 20-22.
