On the Road

Street Rodder - - Contents -

The Shades of the Past Road Tour has become one of our most popular tours each summer. Over the past years we have started in different locations and traveled to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for the Friday and Saturday event known as the Hot Rod Roundup, presented by the Shades of the Past Car Club.

A few years ago we began our week in Nashville, aka Music City. Nashville is the fastest growing city in the United States and there are plenty of things to see and do. Our week will begin on Saturday, September 1. We will spend Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Labor Day weekend in Nashville. We will be visiting local attractions, such as the Lane Motor Museum, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the restaurants and honky- tonks on Broadway, and maybe a show at the Grand Ole Opry. We will stop and visit the American Pickers store over the weekend. One of the days we will take a daytrip north to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Tuesday, September 4, we will head southeast and visit Corky Coker and the good folks at Coker Tire in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The museum at Coker Tire includes an amazing collection of cars, motorcycles, and automobilia. We will arrive in Pigeon Forge on Tuesday evening. It is going to be a fun week as we travel from Nashville to Pigeon Forge and the Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup. Some of our stops in Nashville will include the Corvette Museum, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Lane Motor Museum. We will stop at Coker Tire on our way to Pigeon Forge where we will visit Lokar in Knoxville and have special parking at Dollywood Splash Country for the event.

On Wednesday we will be taking a daytrip north to visit Lokar’s new facility in Knoxville and stop by a few of the rod shops in the area. Thursday we will take a beautiful drive south through the Smoky Mountain National Park stopping in Gatlinburg and traveling on to visit the Wheels Through

Time motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina.

Friday, September 7, the fun begins at Dollywood Splash Country with the Shades of the Past Hot Rod Roundup. This show has become one of the most popular street rod events in the nation. The addition of the STREETRODDER Triple Crown of Rodding presented by Painless Performance Products has helped the event grow even larger over the past few years. The excitement continues on Saturday at Splash Country and culminates with the awards presentation in the afternoon. As always, the Shades of the Past Road Tour participants will have special parking and a hospitality tent on Friday and Saturday.

It is going to be a fantastic week on the Shades of the Past Road Tour from Nashville to Pigeon Forge and the 36th annual Hot Rod Roundup. Check out our entire
