The Krampus: Initiation

Sun Sentinel Broward Edition - Showtime - South Broward - - ON STAGE -

Santa’s sidekick — no, make that Santa’s evil sidekick — Krampus takes the spotlight in the Infinite Abyss company’s alternative holiday show. The half-goat, half-demon beast is based on German folklore and conjures up the dark side of holly jolly, scaring the jingle bells out of Bavarian children for centuries. The anti-St. Nicholas swats naughty children with birch sticks and takes the really bad kids to the underworld. In Infinite Abyss’ immersive play, the Nacht Kinder Bestellen (the Order of the Night Children) convenes to pass the Krampus power onward. Should audience members want to take part, they are encouraged to dress in evening attire and wear a mask. When: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10:30 p.m. Saturday Where: The Abyss Theatre, 2304 N. Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors. Cost: $20 Contact: 954-326-7767 or Infinite-Abyss.org
