Free food and art events in Wynwood
The Wynwood Yard has quickly become a hub for cultural and creative activities since its grand opening in November. The culinary incubator has hosted concerts, workshops, brunch and lunch while simultaneously providing a space for folks to learn about fitness and nutrition through cooking classes, yoga, spinning and pilates. There’s always something to do at the Yard, even if that means a coffee break with free Wi-Fi. January is no exception, with morning talks, gardening and a silent disco. Here are three free events to check out this month.
Saturday, Jan. 23: Saturdaze Drinking featuring Magic City Hippies
Spend your Saturday outside with live music from the Magic City Hippies. The band creates an indie funk sound that’s sure to be a sweet accompaniment to the cocktails you’ll be sipping. Thyme, one of the Yard’s staples, will serve drink specials all day long. After the Hippies perform, Electric Pickle’s resident DJ Arremer Jack will throw down some groovy tracks. The event is from 1-5 p.m. and free with an RSVP at SouthFlorida.com/Saturdaze. Wednesday, Jan. 27: Drunken Crafts Arts and crafts, plus alcohol – what’s not to love? Drunken crafts is a new, bi-monthly activity at the Wynwood Yard. At this week’s hands-on event, learn to crochet totes, crowns and bracelets using old shirts. Of course, there will also be drink specials. Sip on $7 cocktails, $5 wine and draft beer, and $3 Pabst Blue Ribbon. RSVP at SouthFlorida.com/DrunkenCrafts for the fun, which starts at 7 p.m.
Friday, Jan. 29: Creative Mornings with Cuci Amador
Wake up bright and early for this chat. At 8:30 a.m., enjoy complimentary breakfast from Della’s Kitchen before getting inspired by Cuci Amador, one-half of the Miami electro-funk duo known as Afrobeta . Amador will speak on the theme of language, followed by a Q and A. To RSVP, go to SouthFlorida.com/CreativeMornings.
The Wynwood Yard is at 56 NW 29 St., Miami. For more a complete list of events, visit TheWynwoodYard.com
