The in­au­gu­ral South­ern Jam gets off to an aus­pi­cious start in Boca Raton on Satur­day with in­flu­en­tial song­writer and per­former Kris Kristof­fer­son head­lin­ing an evening of Amer­i­cana stal­warts, in­clud­ing Lucinda Wil­liams, John Hi­att and Shawn Colvin. Kristof­fer­son, now a spry 79, can be ex­pected to bring added elo­quence to such lit­er­ate bal­lads as “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Help Me Make It Through the Night,” “Sun­day Morn­ing Com­ing Down,” “Why Me Lord” and “For the Good Times.” He’ll also be joined by long­time band­mates Billy Swan (“I Can Help”) and Don­nie Fritts (“We Had it All”).
