Match point: 24th an­nual Chris Evert/Ray­mond James Pro-Celebrity Ten­nis Clas­sic set for Nov. 15-17

Since 1969, ten­nis leg­end and South Florida phi­lan­thropist Chris Evert has hosted a pro-celebrity event as part of her on-go­ing cam­paign to raise funds to fight drug abuse and child ne­glect through­out Florida. Her ef­forts have re­sulted in con­tri­bu­tions in ex­cess of $20.6 mil­lion, in­clud­ing $600,000 in 2012.

The pop­u­lar “Chris Evert/Ray­mond James Pro-Celebrity Ten­nis Clas­sic” will re­turn for its 24th year, and kick­ing off the fes­tiv­i­ties will be a pri­vate pro-am cock­tail re­cep­tion at the Boca Ra­ton Re­sort & Club, Nov. 15, fol­lowed by two days of pro-celebrity ten­nis at the Del­ray Beach Sta­dium & Ten­nis Center on Nov. 16 and 17.

Celebri­ties com­mit­ted to at­tend in­clude ac­tors Jon Lovitz, Scott Fo­ley, Alan Thicke and Kevin McKidd; ac­tresses Lisa Rinna and Maeve Quin­lan; mu­si­cians Gavin Ross­dale and David Cook; and ten­nis jour­nal­ist and his­to­rian Bud Collins.

Martina Navratilova and Mats Wi­lan­der, a pair of in­ter­na­tional Hall of Fame play­ers, will high­light a group of for­mer pro ten­nis stars who will match up with celebri­ties on the ten­nis court. Pa­trick McEn­roe, Lisa Ray­mond, Brad Gil­bert, Pam Shriver and Ren­nae Stubbs are also re­turn­ing to par­tic­i­pate.

Chris Evert Char­i­ties part­ners with the Ounce of Preven­tion Fund of Florida, blend­ing state and pri­vate dol­lars to in­vest in in­no­va­tive, com­mu­nity-based pro­grams that give chil­dren a chance to live free from drug abuse and ne­glect.

Tick­ets for the pro-celebrity ten­nis event range in price from $20 to $90. Gen­eral ad­mis­sion tick­ets are $20. In­di­vid­ual club seats, with seat backs, are $40 per day, or $70 for the weekend. Plat­inum-level seat­ing is $90 per day, or $175 for the two-day ses­sion.

Tick­ets for the Esurance gala din­ner dance on Satur­day evening at the Boca Ra­ton Re­sort & Club, are $750.

A Blues Brothers trib­ute by the Jake and El­wood Blues Re­vue will pro­vide en­ter­tain­ment, while pro­ceeds from the evening’s live and silent auc­tions will also go to char­ity.
