Bella’s Group has joined forces with HANDY to support grandparents and other relatives raising children in the community.
Bella’s Group was the brainchild of Isabella Glazer, who along with her sister Gabriella, were adopted by their grandparents, Drs. Marietta and Ira Glazer, at a young age. The concept was simple: provide opportunities for children being raised by relatives to connect with one another in fun and enjoyable settings.
Since that time, Bella’s Group has expanded exponentially. It now hosts four parties per year for kinship children, including a holiday celebration, which is renowned for its scope and reach. Every event features resources for kinship caregivers, and “Bella Bags” stuffed with key supplies are available for children and families in crisis.
“With our expanded footprint in Broward County, it was natural that we affiliate with HANDY, an organization with a 30-year history of supporting children being raised by relatives,” said Marietta Glazer. “HANDY has a laser-like focus on education, which we believe is the key to success for our young people.”
To that end, the Bella’s Group Kinship Scholarship, which has been endowed at HANDY, will award scholarships to two rising high school seniors who are being raised by relatives and are pursuing post-secondary education.
