Ever­glades High School re­cently part­nered with Merk­abah In­ter­na­tional Foun­da­tion and col­lected 500 school sup­plies to send to three im­pov­er­ished schools in Haiti.

Stu­dents did this as a part of Emory Cares Day, an in­ter­na­tional day of ser­vice where thou­sands of Emory alumni help the com­mu­nity. South Florida pho­tog­ra­pher RemiJin Camp­ing of Love Shine Stu­dio vol­un­teered to take pho­tos to help stu­dents con­nect. The high school stu­dents shared pho­tos and short video mes­sages to ex­press sol­idary.

Merk­abah will be build­ing a school in Port au Prince, Haiti, us­ing plas­tic wa­ter bot­tles and tires. The school will also con­tain bio re­cy­ca­ble wa­ter fil­tra­tion sys­tems and will power it­self us­ing so­lar en­ergy.
