The 2016 Broward Col­lege Speaker Se­ries con­tin­ued with J.C. Watts, CEO of Feed the Chil­dren who is a for­mer con­gress­man and chair­man of the Repub­li­can Con­fer­ence.

The for­mer Univer­sity of Ok­la­homa quar­ter­back and or­dained min­is­ter pro­vided in­sights on lead­er­ship, pol­i­tics and the value of ed­u­ca­tion.

Dur­ing the hour-long talk, Watts shared sto­ries from his hum­ble beginnings in ru­ral Ok­la­homa in­clud­ing anec­dotes where he learned the value of strong lead­er­ship, which mo­ti­vated him to be­come a con­gress­man. Fol­low­ing his talk, Watts par­tic­i­pated in a rapid-fire Q&A ses­sion mod­er­ated by David May­mon, mem­ber of the Broward Col­lege board of trus­tees.

As part of his visit to Broward County, Watts also vis­ited Broward Col­lege’s North Cam­pus for a fire­side chat ear­lier that day, where he spoke to a group of stu­dents about mak­ing the most out of op­por­tu­ni­ties pre­sented to them to achieve suc­cess.
