Marshall likely a game-time call

- News services

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The Jets might not knowuntil kickoff if they’ll have Brandon Marshall on the field against the Chiefs.

The receiver is listed as questionable for Sunday and coach Todd Bowles said Marshall will likely be a game-time decision as he continues to recover from knee and foot injuries.

Marshall returned to practice on a limited basis after sitting out earlier in the week. He had his left knee bend awkwardly beneath him during a play Sept. 15 at Buffalo. Marshall’s left foot was also hurt on the play.

Marshall expressed some caution about his availability but wouldn’t offer details on the injury.

“Think about it, it’s a knee,” he said. “You saw the picture. It’s a knee, so there’s definitely something going on there. It’s a knee. There’s a lot of guys who are out this year because of knees. There’s a lot of guys who ended their careers over knees.”

More QB woes for Pats:

The Patriots could be looking for yet another quarterback after thirdstringer Jacoby Brissett injured his right thumb in Thursday night’s victory over the Texans.

Brissett was shown on the sidelines with the training staff having the thumb examined after Texans DT Vince Wilfork landed on him in the third quarter. Brissett finished the game.

Brissett got the start Thursday because Tom Brady is serving his Deflategate suspension and backup Jimmy Garoppolo was inactive after injuring his throwing shoulder in Week 2.

Receiver Julian Edelman is the team’s emergency quarterback.

Bucs waive Seferian

Jenkins: The Buccaneers waived tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins hours after the third-year pro was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence.

The Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement Seferian-Jenkinswas driving between 75 and 80 mph on Interstate 275 when his vehicle cut in front in front of a trooper’s cruiser and began weaving back and forth. Seferian-Jenkins was charged with DUI and violation of an ignition interlock device restriction from an arrest in Washington in 2013.

Foster ruled out: Dolphins running back Arian Foster was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Browns because of a groin injury.

The team was optimistic earlier in the week Foster would be able to play. His absence means second-year pro Jay Ajayi will likely make his first NFL start. Rookie Kenyan Drake is also expected to see significant action.

Dolphins running backs have netted only 82 yards in the team’s first two games, both losses.

Extra points: The Vikings officially placed RB Adrian Peterson on injured reserve. … Redskins WR DeSean Jackson is expected to play against the Giants on Sunday. … Bills WR Sammy Watkins is unlikely to play against the Cardinals. Coach Rex Ryan said Watkins’ chances of playing are “probably not real good” after Watkins did not practice all week with a foot injury.
