Scout­ing report: The pres­sure is on for the Pan­thers to end a three-game los­ing streak (four over­all at home) be­fore slip­ping far­ther back in the play­off race. Florida had nu­mer­ous scor­ing chances but lit­tle to show for it in Sun­day’s 2-1 loss to Ot­tawa. Their 18th-ranked power play has looked sharper with four goals in the past three games. … The Pan­thers lost 3-2 in the first en­counter with the Hur­ri­canes, Nov. 27 at Carolina, and coach Ger­ard Gal­lant was fired im­me­di­ately af­ter­ward. With Tom Rowe tak­ing over as in­terim coach, they have gone from 11-10-1 to 28-23-10. … The Hur­ri­canes (25-25-8) are also coming off a home loss Sun­day, 3-1 to Calgary, con­clud­ing a 1-3-1 home­s­tand.
