Lilly’s a lit­tle dog with a lot of luck. An al­li­ga­tor dragged her into a pond, but the pooch broke free, es­cap­ing with two in­jured legs. Story,

Lilly, a 6-year-old York­shire ter­rier mix, is be­ing closely watched by staff at Clin­tMoore An­i­mal Hospi­tal in West Boca af­ter her own­ers say she was ap­par­ently mauled by an al­li­ga­tor.

On Sun­day, Lilly got loose fromAn­tho­nyMonti’s yard and call her the mir­a­cle woundu­pat the re­ten­tion­pond near his home, he said.

The al­li­ga­tor grabbed the dog, drag­ging her into the lake, Monti said. Some­how, Lilly got away and made it back home de­spite her in­juries, Monti said.

CBS12’scam­eraswere rolling when Lilly’s own­ers, An­thony and Maria Monti, vis­ited the clinic to check on their dog Wed­nes­day.

Lilly has two large bites — one very se­vere. Thevet­eri­nar­ian, Dr. Lind­say Butzer, said it was one of the worst in­juries she has ever seen. Butzer said Lilly is do­ing­well over­all, and is now re­ceiv­ing a stronger an­tibi­otic to treat the in­fec­tion.

“We visit her three to four times a day,” An­thony Monti said. “We don’t want her to think thatwe aban­doned her.

“She’s a very big part of the fam­ily, and she’s al­ways around us. She fol­lows me around, she’smy shadow.”
