The alligator grabbed the dog, dragging her into the lake, Monti said. Somehow, Lilly got away and made it back home despite her injuries, Monti said.
CBS12’scameraswere rolling when Lilly’s owners, Anthony and Maria Monti, visited the clinic to check on their dog Wednesday.
Lilly has two large bites — one very severe. Theveterinarian, Dr. Lindsay Butzer, said it was one of the worst injuries she has ever seen. Butzer said Lilly is doingwell overall, and is now receiving a stronger antibiotic to treat the infection.
“We visit her three to four times a day,” Anthony Monti said. “We don’t want her to think thatwe abandoned her.
“She’s a very big part of the family, and she’s always around us. She follows me around, she’smy shadow.”
