Running for a cause
Throughout much of Thursday morning and into the afternoon, lawenforcement officers, joined by Special Olympics athletes, ran along a 29-mile course fromBroward’s southern border to the northern county line. Broward County’s LawEnforcement Torch Run, which raises money for and awareness of the Special Olympics, was part of a 1,400-mile statewide relay leading up to the opening ceremonies of the Florida Special Olympics Summer Games in Lake BuenaVista onMay 19.
