Barge lands on Singer Is­land

A barge that broke free froma tug­boat landed on­shore at Singer Is­land, in Riviera Beach, Thurs­day morn­ing.

The144-foot-long barge called the Bay­mas­ter IV is be­lieved to have bro­ken free fromits towin the LakeWorth In­let be­fore dawn.

The Coast Guard­was no­ti­fied about 5 a.m.

The barge came ashore a lit­tle north of the LakeWorth In­let, the Coast Guard said. The agency sent per­son­nel to in­ves­ti­gate.

No onewas aboard the barge and therewere no con­cerns about en­vi­ron­men­tal or pol­lu­tion is­sues, of­fi­cials said.

Amar­itime com­pany, Sea Tow, was sched­uled to co­or­di­nate the barge’s re­moval.
