Barge lands on Singer Island
A barge that broke free froma tugboat landed onshore at Singer Island, in Riviera Beach, Thursday morning.
The144-foot-long barge called the Baymaster IV is believed to have broken free fromits towin the LakeWorth Inlet before dawn.
The Coast Guardwas notified about 5 a.m.
The barge came ashore a little north of the LakeWorth Inlet, the Coast Guard said. The agency sent personnel to investigate.
No onewas aboard the barge and therewere no concerns about environmental or pollution issues, officials said.
Amaritime company, Sea Tow, was scheduled to coordinate the barge’s removal.
