Superintendents on TV special
Broward and Miami-Dade school superintendents will be featured in a special WTVJ-Ch. 6 program on Monday.
Called “Superintendents on Safety: An Education on 6 Special Report,” the hourlong program will feature Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie along with parents, teachers and students for a panel discussion.
The program, which starts at 7 p.m., will look back on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting, the evolution of the students’ “March for Our Lives” movement and how inner-city students were dealing with gun violence long before the Parkland tragedy.
WTVJ education reporter Ari Odzer will moderate the discussion, which will be hosted by anchors Jackie Nespral and Jawan Strader.
“We are strongly committed to our community and programs like ‘Superintendent on Safety: An Education on 6 Special Report’ allow us the opportunity to address top-of-mind topics that are important for our viewers,” said Larry Olevitch, WTVJ’s president and general manager.
