Driver hits 3 people, flees

A driver of a white BMW hit three pedestrians and struck several vehicles by the beach in Fort Lauderdale Wednesday evening before running away, police said.

The three people were taken to a nearby hospital around 7 p.m., including a 1-year-old child who was rushed as a trauma alert, said Fort Lauderdale police spokeswoman Casey Liening.

The driver also hit several vehicles near Las Olas Boulevard and SR A1A before taking off.

According to WPLG-Ch. 10, witnesses at the nearby Elbo Room said the driver was going the wrong way on Seabreeze Boulevard when he crashed into the other cars. The witnesses said two of the victims were children.
