Isle Tour­na­ment yields big win­ners

On Sun­day, Event 1 of the Isle Open Poker Tour­na­ment, a $175 no-limit hold ’em, ended in a nine-way chop out of1,239 en­tries. Christo­pher Gilkey, of Lake Worth, was de­clared the win­ner, pock­et­ing $13,765. An­other Lake Worth res­i­dent, Arno Kruger, be­came the runner-up, tak­ing home $13,194.

The tour­na­ment runs through Oct. 31 at Isle Casino Pom­pano Park (777 Isle of Capri Cir­cle, Pom­pano Beach, 954-972-2000, TheIslePom­panoPark.com) and has $1.1 mil­lion in guar­an­teed pay­outs. Ac­tion over the next week in­cludes more no-limit hold ’ems, deep-stack turbo boun­ties, Omaha 8B hi/lo and a se­niors NLH cham­pi­onship, with buy-ins rang­ing from $60 to $360.

Jack­pot!

With a $10 bet, Carol Hu­diak, of Light­house Point, won a $10,000 jack­pot on , Oct. 7, at the Isle. She was play­ing the Dou­ble Di­a­mond slot ma­chine. Judy Davis won $2,079.29 the fol­low­ing day with a $2 bet on the Lock It Link game.

Track­ing a cure

Palm Beach Ken­nel Club (1111 N. Con­gress Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-683-2222, PBKen­nelClub.com) will host a track walk noon Oct. 28 to raise funds for Breast Cancer Aware­ness Month.

For a $25 do­na­tion, walk­ers get an “On Track To Beat Cancer” T-shirt. Pro­ceeds go to lo­cal char­i­ties.

Sched­uled for the af­ter­noon pro­gram is a spe­cial “On Track To Beat Cancer” race fea­tur­ing some of the pari-mutuel’s fastest greyhounds.

As we head into tourist sea­son, lo­cal casi­nos are an­nounc­ing more con­certs fea­tur­ing big names.

On Nov. 18, co­me­dian David Alan Grier will tell jokes at the Casino at Da­nia Beach (301 E. Da­nia Beach Blvd., 954-920-1511, Casi­noDa­ni­aBeach.com). Tick­ets cost from $20 to $35 ($75 for VIP tick­ets).

Reg­gae band the Wail­ers (“Buf­falo Sol­dier,” “No Wo­man, No Cry”) will per­form in Da­nia ($25-$35) on Jan. 6.

On Jan. 27, soft rock­ers Air Sup­ply (“All Out of Love,” “Ev­ery Wo­man in the World”) will play ($20-$90) in the new lawn sec­tion at Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Mi­ami, 305- 649- 3000, Mag­icCi­tyCasino.com).

The Moody Blues (“Tues­day Af­ter­noon,” “Nights in White Satin”), as a stop on their 50th An­niver­sary Tour, will be on­stage ($46-$116) Jan. 10 at Hard Rock Live. They’ll play their early al­bum “Days of Fu­ture Passed” in its en­tirety.

Jack­son Browne (“Take It Easy,” “Run­ning on Empty”) brings his acous­tic tour ($61-$101) Jan. 17 to Hard Rock Live.
