South Florida casi­nos get into the Hal­loween spirit

Lo­cal casi­nos and parimutuels are of­fer­ing lots of Hal­loween fun for adults and kids.

Casino Mi­ami (3500 NW 37th Ave., 305-633-6400, PlayCasi­noMi­ will host Fi­esta de Hal­loween con Car­los Manuel 10-11:30 p.m. Satur­day. The Cuban sen­sa­tion will sing and play mu­sic. Ad­mis­sion is free.

The per­son cho­sen for best cos­tume wins $500 in free play.

Hialeah Park Rac­ing and Casino (100 E. 32nd St., 305- 885- 8000, will throw a cos­tume party on Satur­day, with $1,000 in cash prizes. It starts at 8 p.m., and will be hosted by El Zol106.7’s La Gatita. You must be at least 21 to at­tend.

Palm Beach Ken­nel Club (1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, 561-683-2222, PBKen­ hosts its an­nual cos­tume con­test on Satur­day. It’s for kids and adults as well as grey­hounds. Con­tes­tants need to re­port to the first-floor in­for­ma­tion cen­ter by 12:45 p.m. Win­ners in var­i­ous cat­e­gories will re­ceive cash prizes after Race 2.

Start­ing at 11:30 a.m., kids can pick up goody bags at the in­for­ma­tion cen­ters. The track will also have a bal­loon artist and hot dog and beer spe­cials.

Gulf­stream Park Rac­ing and Casino (901 S. Fed­eral High­way, Hal­lan­dale Beach, 954- 454-7000, Gulf­ will present a Not So Spooky Hal­loween 5-8 p.m. Tues­day. Kids can trick-or-treat at venues through­out the com­plex of restau­rants and shops, and they can get their faces painted and en­joy magic shows.

There will also be a cos­tume party at Barker An­i­ma­tion Art Gal­leries and Col­lectibles from 4 to 8 p.m., with win­ners be­ing an­nounced at 9.

Semi­nole Hard Rock Ho­tel and Casino (1 Semi­nole Way, Hol­ly­wood, 800-937-0010, Semi­nole­HardRock­Hol­ly­ will serve “spook­tac­u­lar cock­tail spe­cials” Mon­day through Nov. 6 at Cen­ter Bar and L Bar.


On Oct. 19, at Casino Mi­ami, a slots player won $98,672 off a $45 spin on a Lib­erty 7’s ma­chine. Cit­ing pri­vacy con­cerns, mar­ket­ing man­ager Francesca Costa says she won’t dis­close the jack­pot win­ner’s name. But she says he or she lives in Mi­ami.

Win­ners’ Isle

The Isle Open Poker Tour­na­ment con­tin­ues at Isle Casino Pom­pano Park (777 Isle of Capri Cir­cle, Pom­pano Beach, 954-972-2000, TheIslePom­ Event 15, a no­limit hold ’em with a buy-in of $1,100, ended with an un­sched­uled Day 3 on Mon­day. Lan­tana’s Noel Ather­ley came in first, win­ning $44,916. Run­ner-up Brian Hast­ings of Ithaca, N.Y., pock­eted $30,128.

Las Ve­gas’ Ge­orge Wheeler won $3,188 in Event 17, an NLH that cost $175 to play.

Event 21, the tour­na­ment’s championship with $500,000 at stake, runs today to Mon­day.


Kids are wel­come to Gulf­stream Park Rac­ing and Casino’s Not So Spooky Hal­loween on Tues­day.
