Cul­tural Con­sor­tium Fel­low­ship re­cently an­nounced the two win­ners of the 2008 South Florida Cul­tural Con­sor­tium Fel­low­ship. Re­cip­i­ents, both Palm Beach res­i­dents, Diane Ar­ri­eta and Carol Prusa, will re­ceive $7,500.

Ar­ri­eta is a mul­ti­me­dia artist who is in­spired by so­cial con­di­tions, ob­ser­va­tions of events and ev­ery­day life. Ar­ri­eta’s work was ex­hib­ited through ex­hib­ited through Au­gust 8 at the John D. MacArthur Cam­pus Li­brary at the Florida At­lantic Univer­sity Jupiter Cam­pus, where she’s the Ex­hi­bi­tion Co­or­di­na­tor/Se­nior Tech­ni­cal As­sis­tant.

Prusa is a mul­ti­me­dia artist work­ing on a new project, ‘In­nies and Ou­ties Uni­fi­ca­tion Se­ries: An In­ves­ti­ga­tion of ‘Won­der­fully Strange Ideas’” (Ex­pressed in Domes and Quan­tum Foam) funded by a fel­low­ship from the Howard Foun­da­tion through Brown Univer­sity. Prusa teaches paint­ing as an as­so­ci­ate pro­fes­sor of art at the Florida At­lantic Univer­sity Boca Ra­ton cam­pus.

Eleven other fel­low­ships were awarded by the Con­sor­tium, which is an al­liance of the arts coun­cils of Palm Beach, Broward, Mi­ami-Dade, Mon­roe and Martin Coun­ties. Fel­low­ships were awarded at $15,000 and $7,500 lev­els. The $15,000 fel­low­ships are the largest such awards pro­vided by lo­cal arts agen­cies in the United States.

An ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tur­ing the works of the 13 re­cip­i­ents is at the Mu­seum of Art Fort Laud­erdale, through Septem­ber 30.
