And the winner is...
Cultural Consortium Fellowship recently announced the two winners of the 2008 South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship. Recipients, both Palm Beach residents, Diane Arrieta and Carol Prusa, will receive $7,500.
Arrieta is a multimedia artist who is inspired by social conditions, observations of events and everyday life. Arrieta’s work was exhibited through exhibited through August 8 at the John D. MacArthur Campus Library at the Florida Atlantic University Jupiter Campus, where she’s the Exhibition Coordinator/Senior Technical Assistant.
Prusa is a multimedia artist working on a new project, ‘Innies and Outies Unification Series: An Investigation of ‘Wonderfully Strange Ideas’” (Expressed in Domes and Quantum Foam) funded by a fellowship from the Howard Foundation through Brown University. Prusa teaches painting as an associate professor of art at the Florida Atlantic University Boca Raton campus.
Eleven other fellowships were awarded by the Consortium, which is an alliance of the arts councils of Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Martin Counties. Fellowships were awarded at $15,000 and $7,500 levels. The $15,000 fellowships are the largest such awards provided by local arts agencies in the United States.
An exhibition featuring the works of the 13 recipients is at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, through September 30.
