Follow the leader: Pap Corps Leadership Conference
More than 300 executive officers and presidents from the Corps’ 49 Units in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties attended the annual Pap Corps Leadership Conference on October 23.
The event was held at the Embassy Suites in Boca Raton. Seminars included marketing, communications, fundraising, and leadership training. Workshop leaders presented fundraising ideas and programs for the coming year and encouraged attendees to exchange techniques they found successful.
During the 2007-2008 fundraising year, the Corps’ 19,000 members raised more than $4.15 million for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. A check for that amount was presented to Dr. Jarred Goodwin, director of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the May 2008 luncheon held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
Since its inception in 1952, this grass roots organization has raised more than $70 million for cancer research. The members are passionately committed to raising funds in support of effective treatments for all types of cancer and, ultimately, eradication of the disease.
The women and men of the Pap Corps take pride in the fact that 99.1% of all money raised goes directly to cancer research and treatment. Pap Corps President Tutsie Lipkin told Unit presidents, “With the support of each and every member in your Units, we can take the Corps to new levels of achievement. In terms of what can be accomplished, the sky’s the limit!”
