Dorothy & Stanley Saft
Dorothy and Stanley Saft are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. They were married on November 7, 1943 during World War II. Stanley served as a medic in the U.S. Army, while Dorothy worked for the war effort at Civilian Defense at the Rome Army Air Depot in Rome, NY.
Stanley proposed to Dorothy by phone from the Mojave Desert in California. They were married and lived on the base in Sturgis, Kentucky for two months until he was shipped overseas for the invasions and battles of the European Theatre. Two years later when the war ended, Stanley came home with many combat decorations.
After fifty years as president of a medical supply company, Stanley and Dorothy retired to Florida. They have three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Stanley and Dorothy are celebrating with family and close friends at a party in November and will be going on a cruise in December.
