Dorothy and Stan­ley Saft are cel­e­brat­ing their 65th wed­ding an­niver­sary. They were mar­ried on Novem­ber 7, 1943 dur­ing World War II. Stan­ley served as a medic in the U.S. Army, while Dorothy worked for the war ef­fort at Civil­ian De­fense at the Rome Army Air De­pot in Rome, NY.

Stan­ley pro­posed to Dorothy by phone from the Mo­jave Desert in Cal­i­for­nia. They were mar­ried and lived on the base in Stur­gis, Ken­tucky for two months un­til he was shipped over­seas for the in­va­sions and bat­tles of the Euro­pean The­atre. Two years later when the war ended, Stan­ley came home with many com­bat dec­o­ra­tions.

Af­ter fifty years as pres­i­dent of a med­i­cal sup­ply com­pany, Stan­ley and Dorothy re­tired to Florida. They have three chil­dren, eight grand­chil­dren, and three great-grand­chil­dren.

Stan­ley and Dorothy are cel­e­brat­ing with fam­ily and close friends at a party in Novem­ber and will be go­ing on a cruise in De­cem­ber.
