Judi and Craig know the an­guish par­ents of chil­dren with spe­cial needs have in try­ing to find qual­ity af­ter school and camp pro­grams for their chil­dren. Their son Chase had Autism and as a teenager had to travel more than 30 miles af­ter school to at­tend a pro­gram that would meet his needs. The Peter Blum Fam­ily YMCA of­fers af­ter school and camp|pro­grams to kids with dis­abil­i­ties, aged 5 - 18, from the Boca Ra­ton area. Spe­cially-trained and ex­pe­ri­enced coun­selors work with chil­dren to pro­vide in­clu­sion based and de­vel­op­men­tally ap­pro­pri­ate ac­tiv­i­ties that fo­cus on each child’s abil­i­ties. While at the Y, chil­dren im­prove self-es­teem and so­cial­iza­tion skills and have con­stant ex­po­sure to the YMCA’s Char­ac­ter De­vel­op­ment val­ues of car­ing, hon­esty, re­spect and re­spon­si­bil­ity.
