Alzheimer’s Association’s walk set for Nov. 2 at Meyer Amphitheatre
The Alzheimer’s Association invites residents of Palm Beach to unite in amovement to reclaim the future for millions, by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association’s “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Meyer Amphitheatre, 104 Datura St., West Palm Beach. Registration for the walk begins at 7:30 a.m.
The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is more than a walk. For the nearly 3,000 expected participants, it will be a learning experience. The walk is an excellent opportunity to get involved with this cause, through advocacy opportunities, gain information about Alzheimer’s research and trial enrollment, and how to support various programs and services. Each walker will also join in a meaningful ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic, and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing beyond today’s more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s.
“There has never been a greater need for the citizens of Palm Beach to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Ellen Brown, CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Southeast Florida Chapter. “Funds raised will provide care and support services to the 450,000 residents of Florida living with Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to advancing critically-needed research.”
Some sponsors include: Mederi Caretenders (Sapphire); MCCI Medical Group, Accessible Home Health (Amethyst); Allegro Senior Living, Brain Matters Research (Gold); La Posada Kisco, First Choice Home Health, Vistas (Silver); Florida Power& Light Co., BrightStar of Jupiter, Five Star Senior Living, Granny Nannies and Humana.
In addition to the 5K walk, participants can take part in family activities, music and more. To start, or to join a team, visit www.alz.org/walk or call 800-272-3900.
