National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosts annual walk
On March 23, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host the “UAIC Boca Raton Walk MS” at Boca Corporate Center & Campus in Boca Raton. Last year, the event raised nearly $300,000. Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 9 a.m.
“’Walk MS’ connects people living with MS and brings together the community to raise funds for a cure,” said Karen Dresbach, president of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, South Florida Chapter. “South Florida residents demonstrate support for those living with multiple sclerosis by raising more than $850,000 for research, programs and services offered by the chapter.”
The walk will feature a light breakfast with coffee and juice, sponsored by The Original Pancake House. A group warm-up will be held 15 minutes before the start of the walk. The day will also include team photos, music, a “Champions Against MS” tent, vendors and other activities for all members of the community.
“Walk MS,” an annual event, is an opportunity for the community to help raise awareness and funds. The amount raised will support programs and research for the disease.
There is a $50 fundraising goal for adults and $25 for students, ages 13 to 17. Participants who raise $100 or more will receive commemorative “UAICWalk MS” T-shirts and additional prizes.
